Iron Sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17)
The Second Freewill Baptist Church (SFWBC) Men Ministry's primary goal is the active and targeted pursuit of men in order to connect them to God, His word, and other men for the purpose of winning, growing, and training men to be Christ-like and embrace the priestly leadership to which men are called. The ministry plans to build a strong ministry for men by adhering to the following eight biblically-balanced benchmarks, which are healthy for ministering to men:
Ø Filling: The men of SFWBC meet consistently for the purpose of studying and applying God’s Word (1 Peter 2:1-3; Psalm 1:1-3).
Ø Training: In order to remain in the word and the word in us, men are encouraged to receive sound biblical instruction (1 Thessalonians 2:13).
Ø Practicing: The old adage that “practice makes perfect” is true. SFWBC men will learn to apply God’s Word to all areas of life under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The end result is accountability within the Men ministry and consistency and obedience to God’s Word (James 1:22-25; Ezekiel 33:30-32).
Ø Uniting: SFWBC men make it a priority to connect with other men as a necessary means for the purpose of community, accountability, fellowship, and prayer (Galatians 6:1-3; James 5:16; Hebrew 10:23-24).
Ø Surviving: Men shall learn to address major life temptations and/or crisis according to their needs and life-stage. Support from the ministry shall be essential (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).
Ø Reaching: As men of SFWBC, we strive to get involved in some form of ministry to men and young men based on our individual gifts and talents (1 Peter 4:10-11; Ephesians 4:11-13).
Ø Impacting: for our impact to be felt, we will allow the Holy Spirit to direct our paths as we invest our time and resources to connect with other men through shared activities, spiritual mentoring, and modeling (2 Timothy 2:22; Proverbs 27:17; Mark 3:13-14).
Ø Sharing: passionately sharing our faith with others will lead them to having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 3:15; Matthew 28:18-20).
